The blog hosting service "Typepad" is shutting down. TaxProf Blog [link no longer valid] has been on Typepad for 21 years. Paul Caron, the author of TaxProf Blog, has decided to shutter the blog rather than to move it to another platform.
Paul’s blog inspired me to create my own blog back in 2008. My blog was hosted on Typepad from 2008 to early 2023. I am so glad that I previously moved away from Typepad. Typepad only gave 30 days notice that they were shutting down, and I don’t think I could have migrated to another platform in that short of a time period. My blog is now hosted on my own website with a SQLite database accessed via a Flask app.
Earlier this year I had posted about creating a Python script to filter TaxProf Blog posts, noting that “TaxProf Blog is a great resource put together by Paul Caron.”
I will truly miss TaxProf Blog. I wish Paul the best.
